BREAKING: 49ers Reveal Three Massive Updates Ahead Of Thursday Night Game
The San Francisco 49ers will be without quarterback Brock Purdy when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football.
Purdy re-aggravated his toe injury following last Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and has been officially ruled out, per head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The setback comes just one week after Purdy returned from missing two games earlier this season with the same injury.
49ers’ Brock Purdy Out vs. Rams with Toe Injury
Backup Mac Jones will start under center for San Francisco. Jones has already proven capable of stepping in, leading the 49ers to two wins earlier in the year while Purdy was sidelined.
In those starts, Jones threw for over 560 yards and four touchdowns, showing enough poise to give the 49ers confidence heading into a tough divisional clash with Matthew Stafford and the Rams.

San Francisco’s injury woes don’t stop at quarterback.
Wide receivers Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall, and Jordan Watkins have also been ruled out, further thinning the offense. With George Kittle already on injured reserve, Shanahan will be forced to get creative in the passing game.
The Rams, meanwhile, enter the matchup at 3-1 and riding momentum from a strong Week 4 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Thursday night’s contest at SoFi Stadium will test the 49ers’ depth on both sides of the ball. Jones has been solid when called upon, but without several of Purdy’s top weapons, San Francisco will need contributions from its supporting cast if it hopes to keep pace in the NFC West.
