Tennessee Titans & Los Angeles Rams Complete Trade

Tennessee Titans defensive end Denico Autry & cornerback Roger McCreary combine for tackle in 2023 game.

The Los Angeles Rams have strengthened their secondary, acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a conditional 2026 fifth- and sixth-round pick swap, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN

The deal gives Los Angeles a proven defensive back to help stabilize a pass defense that’s been one of their biggest concerns this season.

Rams address a glaring defensive weakness

Despite having one of the league’s top front fours, the Rams’ secondary has struggled to slow opposing passing attacks. Opponents like the San Francisco 49ers exposed their vulnerability with quick, short throws, something McCreary’s arrival is meant to address.

The 5’11”, 190-pound corner brings starting experience from his time in Tennessee, where he started 17 games as a rookie and appeared in all eight games this season. Though his coverage numbers have fluctuated, the Rams are banking on defensive coordinator Chris Shula unlocking McCreary’s potential.

Titans move on, Rams get a fresh look

McCreary’s rookie deal was set to expire at the end of the season, making him a logical trade chip. The conditional pick swap ensures Tennessee still gains draft value, while the Rams take a low-risk swing on a young corner who could immediately start alongside or even replace struggling players like Emmanuel Forbes.

McCreary is expected to make his Rams debut in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, giving Los Angeles an instant upgrade on the back end.
