The 33 year old wide receiver has been reinstated from his six game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drugs policy and is now free to sign with any team. Beckham has strongly denied knowingly taking PEDs and made it clear he is “not done yet” in the NFL, openly mentioning the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants as teams he would consider.
After a quiet 2024 stint with the Miami Dolphins and months away from the field, the question is simple now. Who takes the gamble on one of the most recognizable receivers of his era?
Why Odell Beckham Jr. Still Has NFL Appeal
Beckham is nowhere near the player who was terrorizing defenses with one handed catches for the Giants, but he is not just a name either. Across his career he has 575 receptions, 7,987 yards, 59 touchdowns, three Pro Bowls, two second team All Pro nods, and a Super Bowl ring from his run with the Rams.
As recently as 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens, he put up 565 yards and three scores in a complementary role.
The production in Miami last season was rough, with only nine catches for 55 yards in nine games as he worked back from knee surgery and struggled to carve out a role.
Top 3 Landing Spots for Odell Beckham Jr.
1. Buffalo Bills
The Bills did not add a major wide receiver at the trade deadline and have already watched Amari Cooper move on and retire. Josh Allen needs trustworthy options late in the year, especially with injuries already affecting pass catchers like Dalton Kincaid.
Beckham would not be asked to be a WR1 in Buffalo, just a savvy route runner who can win on key downs and keep defenses honest. For a team still chasing a Super Bowl window, a half season flyer on OBJ makes plenty of sense, especially if the price is minimal and the contract is easy to walk away from.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs were on Beckham’s radar in past free agency cycles, and they still profile as a clean schematic fit. Patrick Mahomes is working with a talented but imperfect wide receiver group that has dealt with injuries and inconsistency.
With Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy providing speed and Travis Kelce still controlling the middle of the field, Beckham could slide in as a situational possession target who wins on option routes and scramble plays. Andy Reid has a long history of squeezing value out of veteran receivers, and OBJ would get a chance to chase another ring in a familiar late season mercenary role.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Beckham himself has already name dropped the Steelers as a team he would like to join, and the fit is easy to see. Pittsburgh is still searching for more firepower behind its top targets and has been aggressive in reshaping its receiver room in recent seasons.
Adding Beckham as a third or fourth option would give their quarterback a veteran who understands spacing, can work the boundary, and still flashes occasional big play ability. The Steelers have not won a playoff game since the 2016 season, and they know every incremental upgrade at receiver can matter in January.
OBJ would also bring a strong personality to a franchise that has never been afraid of big names.
