Baltimore Ravens Sign Free Agent Quarterback
Thompson, 28, joins Tyler Huntley and undrafted rookie free agents Diego Pavia and Joe Fagnano in Baltimore's quarterback room, giving Minter the depth he specifically called for over the weekend.
"There's a place for anywhere from three to five quarterbacks on the team's offseason roster," Minter said during rookie minicamp Saturday, noting that Baltimore could look at veteran options to round out the group.

Thompson is that veteran option.
He spent most of last season on the Pittsburgh Steelers' injured reserve after signing a futures contract with Pittsburgh in January 2025, and has not played in an NFL game since a 2024 appearance with the Miami Dolphins, where he completed 21 of 33 passes for 187 yards in three games including one start.
His NFL career began when Miami selected him in the seventh round out of Kansas State in the 2022 draft.
He appeared in 11 games across three seasons for the Dolphins, making four career starts including a playoff appearance against the Bills in January 2023 in which he threw for 220 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in a 34-31 loss.
The Dolphins eventually moved on from him midseason in 2024 in favor of Huntley, the same backup Thompson now lines up behind in Baltimore.
What the Ravens Are Getting
Thompson completed 61.8 percent of his passes for 941 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 career NFL appearances.
The reason Baltimore is adding him is depth, a little more experience in the room, and the understanding that carrying five quarterbacks into the summer gives the coaching staff maximum flexibility to evaluate the group during rookie minicamp, OTAs, and training camp before settling on a final roster structure.

Huntley is the clear backup to Jackson and will remain so.
The competition for the third quarterback spot between Thompson, Pavia, and Fagnano will play out over the coming months.
The Ravens are not expecting Thompson to challenge for anything meaningful on the depth chart.
They are expecting him to push the younger options around him and provide a veteran presence in a room that otherwise skews inexperienced behind their two-time MVP starter.
