The veteran cornerback announced his retirement on Instagram on Friday, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, ending an eight-year NFL run that few saw coming when it started.
Wallace summed it up himself in a simple caption.
"Walk-on. Undrafted. 8 years. Retired. Not bad."
The Unlikely Path
Wallace began his college career as a walk-on at Alabama, eventually earning a scholarship and winning two College Football Playoff national championships with the Crimson Tide in 2015 and 2017.
He went undrafted in 2018 and signed with the Buffalo Bills, who waived him at the start of that season before bringing him back on the practice squad.
From there, he built a solid NFL career.

Wallace spent four seasons in Buffalo and started all 57 regular season and playoff games he appeared in with the Bills, establishing himself as one of their most reliable defensive backs.
He signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 and spent two seasons there before joining the Denver Broncos in 2024.
The Final Chapter
Wallace signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2025 offseason and was looking forward to the opportunity before sustaining an injury that landed him on injured reserve.
The Jaguars later released him from IR with an injury settlement, and he never took the field again, with his last game action coming with Denver in 2024.
Across 96 career regular season games with 72 starts, Wallace recorded 333 tackles, 12 interceptions, 56 passes defensed, and a fumble recovery.
He added 23 tackles, an interception, and a sack across six postseason appearances.
Wallace, 31, walks away having done exactly what he said, turning a walk-on opportunity and an undrafted signing into eight years and 72 starts in the NFL.
