Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, we should not expect a contract extension for Nacua this offseason.
"Really what they want to see from Puka Nacua is that he's in a better place this year than at any point last year," Rapoport said. "This is about off the field. It's about him personally."
Why The Delay
Before this offseason, an extension for Nacua looked like a near certainty.
He led the NFL in receptions with 129 and finished second in receiving yards with 1,717 in 2025, production that would ordinarily lock up a long-term deal without much debate.
Off-field concerns changed the calculus.

Nacua was accused in March of making antisemitic statements to a woman before biting her on the shoulder, and that same month he checked into a rehabilitation facility to focus on personal growth.
Those developments pushed contract talks to the back burner, even after Jaxon Smith-Njigba's deal in Seattle reset the receiver market and effectively established what Nacua's asking price would be.
What Comes Next
Nacua will play out the final year of his rookie deal, earning just $7.67 million in 2026 thanks to a proven-performance escalator, a fraction of what the receiver market currently commands.
Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed there is no timetable for a new deal but expressed confidence one will eventually get done.
"He's one of the single very best players in the National Football League," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. "And at some point in time, the Rams absolutely are going to want to re-sign him."

Spotrac projects his eventual market value at four years and $160.8 million.
The risk for Los Angeles is losing leverage.
If the Rams push the extension past this season, they would likely need to use the franchise tag on Nacua next offseason, losing the benefit of the discounted final year currently on the books.
For now, Nacua appears to be taking accountability for his offseason and working to get back on track, but the Rams have made clear that talk of a new contract will wait until they see it over a full season.
