Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the former Buffalo Bills head coach visited Los Angeles Rams training camp on Friday to see how the team operates.
Why The Rams
Since Sean McVay took over in 2017, Los Angeles has become something of a coaching incubator, with a steady stream of assistants earning internal or external promotions. That track record has made the Rams a regular stop for coaches around the league who want to study how McVay and his staff run things day to day.

McDermott is simply the latest to take a look inside.
A Pattern, Not A One-Off
This is not McDermott's first visit of the offseason.
He was previously spotted at New York Giants minicamp in June, walking the field alongside GM Joe Schoen, who served as Buffalo's assistant GM during McDermott's first five seasons as head coach.
There's also another connection to Friday's stop. McDermott's former offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, now holds the permanent head coaching job in Buffalo, and the Bills and Rams are actually scheduled to meet at SoFi Stadium this season, a rematch of a wild 44-42 Rams win two years ago in which Josh Allen threw for six touchdowns and Matthew Stafford answered with 320 yards and two scores of his own.
Why He's Doing This
McDermott was let go by Buffalo in January after nine seasons, a 98-50 regular-season record, and eight playoff appearances, ultimately undone by a run of postseason shortcomings that included two AFC Championship Game losses and five AFC East titles that never turned into a Super Bowl trip.
Rather than rush into another job, McDermott has said repeatedly that 2026 is a year to reflect and grow as a coach.
"I love coaching," McDermott said earlier this year. "I think what I miss is just being a part of something bigger, being a part of a team."
He has also floated the idea of a media role, drawing comparisons to Mike Tomlin's move to NBC, though nothing there is finalized either.
What Comes Next
There's no indication the Rams visit is tied to any coaching or front-office vacancy in Los Angeles, where McVay remains firmly in place entering his 10th season.
McDermott is widely expected to be one of the most sought-after head-coaching candidates when the 2027 cycle opens, and stops like this one, at the team everyone else in the league is trying to learn from, are part of how he's preparing for his return.
