Vikings Cut Quarterback One Day After Making Roster
The move comes barely 24 hours after Brosmer survived Sunday's initial 53-man roster cutdown, one of four quarterbacks Minnesota kept on the roster alongside Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy, and Carson Wentz.
Wide receiver Dillon Bell was also released Monday in a corresponding move, with Minnesota reportedly using the open spots to sign two of the top-rated preseason interior offensive linemen off waivers.
Rough Rookie Season That Never Quite Turned Around
Brosmer signed with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Minnesota following the 2025 draft, and made the team last year after impressing head coach Kevin O'Connell with his quick decision-making and grasp of a pretty complicated offense.
The results on the field told a different story.
His first career start came in Week 13 against Seattle, a game the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks won 34-0, and Brosmer completed 66 percent of his passes while throwing four interceptions and zero touchdowns.

He finished the 2026 preseason with a 64.5 passer rating, an improvement on his 53.0 mark as a rookie, but not enough to hold off Minnesota's roster math.
Minnesota Kept Him On Sunday Anyway
Brosmer's inclusion on the initial 53-man roster had already been described as one of the more surprising decisions the Vikings made this offseason, especially with more productive players let go the same day.
That decision lasted less than a full day before the team reversed course to prioritize adding offensive line depth instead.

If he clears waivers, Minnesota could still bring him back on the practice squad, keeping him in the organization's system even without an active roster spot.
