The move comes three days after second-year kicker Tyler Loop missed two field goals in Baltimore's preseason finale against Washington and was booed by the home crowd at M&T Bank Stadium.
Loop finished the preseason 5-of-8 on field-goal attempts, doing little to ease concerns after a rookie season that ended with a missed 44-yard attempt in a Week 18 loss to Pittsburgh that cost Baltimore the AFC North.
Familiar Face For The Coaching Staff
Moody, 26, was a third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2023 out of Michigan, where he overlapped with current Ravens head coach Jesse Minter.
"Jake's just kind of been on the radar," Minter said. "He's a guy that's had success in this league. Really just felt like adding a guy, and it's whatever's best for the team at that particular moment."

Moody made 21 of 25 field goals as a rookie before his accuracy dropped off in 2024, and San Francisco moved on after he missed two kicks in last year's season opener.
He bounced to Chicago for two games, then finished the year in Washington, going 10-of-11 on field goals across six games with the Commanders before losing the team's kicking competition to Drew Stevens and getting released on August 18.
Why Baltimore Isn't Panicking On Loop
Despite the addition, Minter made clear the starting job isn't up for grabs yet. "I have a lot of confidence in Tyler still," Minter said. "He's had a great training camp. I expect him to be our kicker going into Indianapolis."
He added the logic behind the move. "You're always trying to just have every scenario covered. So that's what we're trying to do as a team."
Baltimore opens its season September 13 against the Colts, and for now, Loop remains the guy, with Moody watching from the practice squad as insurance if the misses continue.
