Patriots Make $84 Million Defender Available For Trade
Why He’s Available
Barmore has played just 41.9 percent of New England’s defensive snaps, falling behind Milton Williams and Cory Durden in the rotation, according to Breer.
That number counts every game, and 98.5 The Sports Hub noted he’s still only at 49 percent if you remove the game he missed.
He has made one start in six games with six tackles, a forced fumble, and three sacks, after playing 65 percent of the snaps with 16 starts last year.
It’s plays like this that has Barmore coming off the field on early downs. Just bad pad level and a bad rep. https://t.co/RRZQw3QnH2

Barmore, 27, was a second-round pick in 2021 and signed a four-year, $84 million extension in 2024, which is worth up to $92 million.
Asked about his reduced role this week, he told reporters, “I do everything my coaches tell me to do.”
The Cap And The Market
Barmore carries a $17.1 million cap hit and New England is near the bottom of the league in available cap space, so as much as $8 million could come off the books this year depending on the timing of a trade, with almost $41 million more saved over the next two seasons.
Breer’s column said the Giants and Jaguars are sniffing around on defensive tackles, Jacksonville is looking for defensive-front pieces in general, and the Vikings have asked around on interior linemen, though he didn’t connect any of them to Barmore.
Not sure if this has always been the case…but I do find it interesting Christian Barmore follows the Cowboys on X and not the Patriots…

The market is already moving, with the Titans trading Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears on Thursday, and DeForest Buckner also being moved to the San Francisco 49ers.
