New York Jets Rejecting Trade Offers For Former 1st-Round Pick

The New York Jets have received significant interest in edge rusher Will McDonald IV but haven’t budged at all, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Breer wrote that the Jets seem alright with standing pat, and he didn’t name any of the teams that have called.

A Team Standing Pat

Breer reported that the Jets don’t view Garrett Wilson as remotely available, and that the idea of trading him isn’t coming from inside the organization.

For now, he wrote, New York seems determined to give its coaching staff a chance the rest of the year and likes the mix in its locker room.

Breer reported last October that the Jets had no plans to move McDonald, and he stayed put.

What Teams Are Looking At

McDonald, 27, was the 15th overall pick in 2023 and led the Jets with eight sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 15 games last season, after he had 10.5 sacks in 2024.

The Jets picked up his fifth-year option on April 29, so he’s under contract through 2027.

Breer’s column noted lots of teams are looking for defensive-line help, with the Browns checking options for another designated pass rusher and the Jaguars looking for pieces for their defensive front, though he didn’t connect either team to McDonald.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has 12 total tackles (six solo), two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery through seven games.
