NFL Rumors: AFC Team Planned To Pursue Tom Brady

According to Mike Florio, the Miami Dolphins planned to target Tom Brady to be their starting quarterback for next season. However, that idea now has to be pushed aside, as the 44-year-old of course has announced his retirement.

At this juncture, the Dolphins currently have Tua Tagovailoa as their starter. During this past season, he sported a 7-5 record and helped Miami finish the season very strongly. On the season, he had 16 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 2.653 passing yards. Overall, he had some rough moments, but that is understandable since he's just getting his career started. Yet, Miami was still willing to move on from him if meant that they were bringing the future Hall-of-Famer in.

One has to wonder, though - could the Dolphins look to bring in another star QB instead? Aaron Rodgers' future with the Green Bay Packers is certainly hard to predict.

It's clear that the Dolphins want to take that next step and be a playoff team in 2022. If they landed Brady, that would have been one huge way to help with that.
