NFL Rumors: Buccaneers Already Have Potential Tom Brady Replacement
While speaking to reporters, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians praised quarterback Blaine Gabbert and noted that he views the 33-year-old as a potential replacement for recently retired quarterback Tom Brady.
As a starting quarterback, Gabbert sports a disastrous 13-35 record. However, Arians noted that the veteran QB never had the chance to play with as strong of a team as Tampa Bay. Thus, he's not against giving him a shot as the starting job.
For Gabbert to have a chance at starter, he will of course need to sign an extension with the team. With Arians openly stating he's open to the idea of it, there's a good chance that he will be very open to re-signing with Tampa Bay. However, the Buccaneers should still at least look at other options. There are plenty of proven starters available, keep in mind.
In 66 career games between the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Buccaneers, he has 50 touchdowns, 47 interceptions, and 9,273 passing yards. We will have to wait and see if Arians decides to use him as the team's starter next season.
