NFL Rumors: Falcons To Find Eventual Replacement For Matt Ryan
Although Matt Ryan will be the Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback for at least next season owner Arthur Blank noted that the team will begin planning to find his eventual replacement.
Blank also stated that he still has full confidence in Ryan, but that he also wants to be prepared for when the latter eventually retires. With Ryan being 37 years old, that is something that could very well occur in the near future.
The Falcons possess the 8th-overall pick in the draft, so it will be intriguing to see if they opt to select a quarterback. If Malik Willis drops and is available, he very well could end up being their selection. Furthermore, they have other options in Kenny Pickett, Sam Howell, and Matt Corral. It will be intriguing to see if any of these QBs end up with Atlanta.
In 17 games this season with the Falcons, Ryan had 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 3,948 passing yards. Although the Falcons would end the season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs, it was another good season from the veteran. Thus, he has earned the right to start next season. However, the Falcons are now planning to find his eventual replacement, so let's see who they end up getting.
