49ers Quarterback Set To Have Surgery

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is set to have surgery on his right shoulder to repair a torn capsule.

With this development, Garoppolo isn't going to be able to throw for the next 16 weeks. This is understandable, as he will need to take time to recover. However, it's also been noted that he should be ready for the start of the regular season.

This is big news, however, as Garoppolo is currently one of the most notable names in the rumor mill. The 49ers have made it known that they want to roll with Trey Lance as their starter from here, so Jimmy G is now expendable. However, even if this is the case, there should be plenty of teams interested in him. Keep in mind, both Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger just retired, for example.

It will be interesting to see how much this impacts trade talks regarding Garoppolo. He still should find a new home, but will some teams be a bit more hesitant to acquire him? We will find out soon.
