Browns Cornerback Placed On Injured Reserve

The Cleveland Browns off-season has been a wild ride, with the Deshaun Watson saga, trading Baker Mayfield, adding Amari Cooper and so much more, and today, they've taken another hit, as starting cornerback Greedy Williams was today put on Injured Reserve, meaning he will miss at least the first 4 games of the 2022 campaign. Williams was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Browns, and after missing the 2020 season due to injury, he had a solid 2021 season, leading him to be one of the starters ahead of the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, Williams has been held out of practice the past few days due to a hamstring injury, and today, Cleveland had to officially bite the bullet, placing him on the Injured Reserve List, meaning Week 5 is the earliest he can possibly return. The Browns still have star cornerback Denzel Ward, but Williams played a key role in 2021, starting 9 of the 16 games he played in while accumulating 10 passes defended along with two interceptions, and without him, Cleveland will likely need to turn to an unproven rookie.

The former LSU star had plenty of hype around him when he entered the NFL in 2019, but after missing a full season due to injury and now this, there has to be questions surrounding whether he can be trusted as a starter in the league. Either way, Cleveland are hoping he can be back soon, and if they wish to challenge in the AFC North, they'll need him healthy for a good part of the 2022 campaign.
