Miami Dolphins Quarterback Leaves Game in First Half, Returns in Third Quarter

After an exhilarating 14-14 start, the pivotal AFC East showdown between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills took an ugly turn at the two-minute warning. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hobbled off the field following a late hit that drew an unnecessary roughness penalty.

Tagovailoa fell hard to the turf following a mid-field third-down conversion. He was clearly woozy as he staggered to his feet. Officials promptly escorted Tagovailoa to the locker room in order to evaluate him for a concussion. Teddy Bridgewater entered at quarterback for the Dolphins.

The injury is unfortunate timing for Tagovailoa, who just won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for his sensational performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. The Dolphins had hoped to reverse a brutal streak of ineptitude against the Bills, who have swept Miami for three consecutive years.

UPDATE: Tua Tagovailoa returned for the opening drive of the second half.
