New York Giants Sign Former Pro Bowler

The New York Giants have added a familiar face to their defense. ESPN's Adam Schefter announced that the team has officially signed linebacker Jaylon Smith to their practice squad:
Smith returns to the Giants following a four-game stint with the team in 2021. He is likely best remembered for a five-year run with the Dallas Cowboys that included a Pro Bowl appearance in 2019. He'll provide depth for a Giants linebacking corps that made veteran Blake Martinez a surprise cut preceding the 2022 regular season.

Taken 34th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, Smith entered the league out of Notre Dame following a devastating ACL/MCL tear in his final college game. He had been projected as one of the best players of the draft, but the injury cast his future into doubt. Thankfully, Smith made a full recovery and even earned a massive extension with the Cowboys in 2019. If he can make his way onto the Giants' 53-man roster, he could get two chances to face his former team this year.
