Patriots Trade Offensive Lineman To Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders have shockingly fell to 0-2 to start the 2022 NFL season, and while no trade or free agent pickup will be able to single handedly turn the season around, a solid move for depth is always welcomed by struggling teams with plenty of potential. With that in mind, the Raiders today made a deal with the New England Patriots to acquire offensive tackle Justin Herron, who will prove solid depth and insurance for this team up front looking to protect Derek Carr.

Herron was a sixth round pick of the New England Patriots back in 2020, and although he's served mostly as depth for the Pats throughout that time, he's a solid player, with 28 appearances featuring 10 starts over that time period. The full details on the trade haven't come through yet, but it appears the teams are also flipping picks in the 2024 draft, and while this one won't help immediately, it's a solid project/depth move for Las Vegas.

The Raiders are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL in 2022 with the AFC West looking dominant, and if they wish to get back in the race, they'll need to be at their best against the Titans in Week 3 before back-to-back divisional games, and while this move isn't a huge one, it's a very solid move for the future.
