NFL Rumors: Teams Looking to Trade for Broncos Wide Receiver

The Denver Broncos have gotten off to a nightmare start in the 2022 regular season despite a talented roster. Now on the brink of a lost season, other teams are investigating that roster hoping to scavenge some young talent. According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, teams are calling the Broncos in the hopes of acquiring wide receiver KJ Hamler.

Many anticipated wide receiver Jerry Jeudy could be a trade target ahead of the November 1st trade deadline, but the Broncos are apparently demanding too much in return. Jeudy was the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and has been productive to this point in his career, totalling 1709 receiving yards in 33 appearances. Hence, teams have turned their attention to Hamler.

Hamler has seen his role shrink in recent years after a promising rookie season. There had been hope he might bounce back after tearing his ACL in 2021, but he hasn't been able to win targets this year despite a preseason injury to wide receiver Tim Patrick. After 30 receptions for 381 yards and three touchdowns in his first year, Hamler has totalled 10 receptions for 187 scoreless yards in nine appearances since.

Hamler entered the league as the Broncos' 46th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after two years at Penn St. He totalled 1658 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns for the Nittany Lions. An undersized, explosive target in the slot, teams likely project a better scheme fit could unlock the potential he showed in college.
