Commanders Top Eagles, End Undefeated Streak

The NFL's last undefeated team took its first loss of the season on Monday Night Football in a shocking upset. The Washington Commanders bested the Philadelphia Eagles 32-21 in a gritty, hardnosed win to move to a surprising 5-5, dropping the Eagles to 8-1. The Commanders dominated time of possession with interminable drives all night, converting 12/21 third downs and holding onto the ball for a staggering 40:24. Explosive plays were few and far between; the team only totalled 330 yards on 81 offensive snaps. But they routinely came through in clutch moments, laying down a formula that could help them win ugly all season.

As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they remain at the top of the NFC standings despite Monday's loss. Their offense didn't distinguish itself, totalling only 264 yards and turning the ball over four times. Quarterback Jalen Hurts wasn't particularly egregious, throwing only one interception and compiling 198 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. Simply put, the Eagles didn't possess the ball enough. They remain one of the NFL's elite teams.

In Week 11, the Philadelphia Eagles will have a chance to bounce back when they face the Indianapolis Colts, and the Washington Commanders will look to move beyond .500 with a matchup against the Houston Texans.
