NFL Announces NFC Players of the Week for Week 12

The NFL revealed its NFC Players of the Week for Week 12 Wednesday morning, and they include an ascendent young quarterback making a compelling case for MVP and a fourth-year pass rusher on the verge of attaining superstardom.

On offense, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts earns his flowers for a sensational two-way performance against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. Hurts netted 137 passing yards and a ludicrous 157 yards rushing in the 40-33 win, thoroughly overwhelming the Packers and lifting the Eagles to an amazing 363 total rushing yards. As the key player on a team with the league's best record and the third-highest-scoring offense, Hurts has thoroughly entrenched himself in the MVP conversation.

On defense, Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns takes home the honors for his two sacks, three tackles, one pass defended, and one forced fumble in a 23-10 dismantling of the Denver Broncos. Burns already has a career-high 10.0 sacks through 12 games of the regular season and appears poised for his second Pro Bowl. With only one year remaining on his rookie contract, Burns could find himself among the league's richest defenders in the very near future.

As for special teams, Minnesota Vikings running back Kene Nwangwu gets the nod for his excellent 166 return yards in a 33-26 Thanksgiving win over the New England Patriots. Nwangwu returned a kick 97 yards for a crucial touchdown in the third quarter.
