Raiders Tight End Remains Limited at Practice

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller missed Week 8 despite logging three limited practices, and he hasn't given the team much reason for optimism this week, either. The one-time Pro Bowler has remained limited in both practices ahead of the Raiders' Week 9 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Waller hasn't played since tweaking his hamstring eight snaps into the Raiders' Week 5 30-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The nagging hamstring issue first began in training camp. Waller has totalled 175 receiving yards over five injury-plagued appearances this season.

Waller's absence and struggles have contributed to a disappointing 2-5 start for the Raiders. The team ranks 12th in scoring and 16th in yards gained despite the offseason additions of All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams and a supposed offensive wunderkind in head coach Josh McDaniels. The Raiders will need Waller back soon if they want their offense to finally deliver on its preseason promise.

Waller initially joined the Raiders as a free agent following two disappointing years with the Baltimore Ravens. He broke out as one of the league's elite receiving tight ends in 2019. He has totalled 3181 receiving yards in his past 48 appearances with the team.
