New Orleans Saints Rookie Wide Receiver Olave Passes Milestone

The New Orleans Saints have largely had a 2022 season to forget, but at least they can comfort themselves with the knowledge they nailed their top pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Rookie wide receiver Chris Olave passed 1000 receiving yards in a season in the first quarter of the Saints' Week 18 matchup with the Carolina Panthers.

Olave entered today's game with 67 receptions for 982 yards at an efficient 9.2 yards per target. He crossed the 1000-yard milestone on a 25-yard touchdown catch from Saints quarterback Andy Dalton. It was Olave's fourth touchdown of the year.

The Saints entered today 7-9 and were already eliminated from postseason contention, so Olave's achievement is a mild consolation prize. He was drafted 11th overall earlier this year and has certainly lived up to the billing; he has endured and thrived despite the Saints' unstable quarterback situation, catching passes from Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. He entered today leading all rookies in receiving yards this season.
