NFL Rumors: Young QB Could Stay In Carolina With Latest Coaching Hire

The Carolina Panthers may have struggled to win their division in 2022, but they took some massive steps forward, adding more draft capital and finding several capable starters for the years ahead, and surprisingly, saw some fantastic play out of Sam Darnold at the end of the year.

As he is a pending free agent however, there was a belief he wasn't going to return to the team, and would seek a starting job elsewhere as it appears the Panthers would take a QB high in the 2023 NFL Draft, but with the hiring of his former teammate Josh McCown, he is back in play for Carolina.

Darnold ended the season with 6 starts, a 58.6 completion percentage along with 1,143 passing yards, 7 Touchdowns and 3 Interceptions, and if they can replicate the run game they had in 2022, he could be a good bridge starter until their likely first-round pick is ready to take over.
