San Francisco 49ers Set NFL Record; Receive 7 Compensatory Draft Picks

The San Francisco 49ers cleaned up with the compensatory draft picks in next month's NFL draft, adding a league-high, and NFL record, seven picks.

That gives them 11 total selections in April's draft.
The 49ers added No. 99, No. 101, and No. 2 overall while also receiving picks in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds.

Two of the third-round picks are from the Houston Texans, as a result of the team hiring DeMeco Ryans as head coach, and from the Tennessee Titans hiring Ran Carthon as their general manager.

Picks are awarded to teams in the third-through-seventh rounds with 32 of the picks based on teams losing more or better free agents than they acquired last offseason, and the other five given for minorities hired as head coaches or general managers by other teams.

The Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commnaders, Cleveland Browns, and the Kansas City Chiefs also added third-round picks, with the New England Patriots receiving a fourth-round pick.
