NFL Rumors: 3 Best Trade Destinations If Commanders Move Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin celebrates during 2025 game.

Terry McLaurin’s future with the Washington Commanders is suddenly in doubt.

After a standout 2024 season that ended in a surprise NFC Championship appearance, the veteran wideout is in a contract standoff that’s gone from quiet to concerning. McLaurin, who skipped mandatory minicamp and is entering the final year of his current deal, reportedly isn’t thrilled with the lack of progress on an extension, and he’s not being quiet about it anymore.

If the Commanders can’t lock him up, a trade could be their only realistic option. McLaurin has proven to be one of the league’s most dependable receivers, logging over 1,000 yards in five straight seasons despite constant quarterback changes.

Plenty of teams would jump at the chance to add a true No. 1 wideout, and likely extend him immediately. Among the many potential suitors, three destinations stand out as especially intriguing.

New York Jets could give Fields a top-tier target

The New York Jets are rebuilding from the ground up, and they’ve already shaken up their core by parting ways with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. Now led by Justin Fields and new GM Darren Mougey, the Jets have the cap room (nearly $30 million) to make a big swing.

Pairing McLaurin with Garrett Wilson would give Fields two dynamic options and reunite three former Ohio State Buckeyes (Fields, Wilson, McLaurin) in a suddenly dangerous offense.

Tennessee Titans need a WR1 for rookie Cam Ward

The Tennessee Titans finally found their franchise quarterback in No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward, but their receiving corps remains a glaring weakness. Calvin Ridley is on the wrong side of 30, Tyler Lockett has been battling injuries, and Van Jefferson hasn’t broken out.

McLaurin’s arrival would not only give Ward a legitimate WR1, but also elevate an offense still searching for identity. If the Titans are serious about fast-tracking their rebuild, McLaurin is the veteran weapon Ward needs.

Las Vegas Raiders offer a win-now scenario

The Las Vegas Raiders made win-now moves by hiring Pete Carroll and trading for Geno Smith, but their wide receiver group still lacks top-end talent. Jakobi Meyers is solid, but not a game-breaker.

Adding McLaurin to a mix that includes star tight end Brock Bowers would make the Raiders' offense instantly more potent. With Geno needing trustworthy targets and Vegas aiming to end a playoff drought, McLaurin could be the piece that gets them back into contention.
