Raiders Sign Former Dolphins Defensive Tackle

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed veteran defensive tackle Benito Jones, waiving Brodric Martin with an injury designation in a corresponding move.

Jones enters his sixth NFL season with the Silver and Black after spending the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, and joins a defensive line that has been adding bodies under first-year head coach Klint Kubiak.

A Reunion

Jones originally arrived in Miami as an undrafted free agent from Ole Miss in 2020, and the assistant defensive line coach who worked with him directly during his rookie year was Rob Leonard.

Leonard is now the Raiders' defensive coordinator.

Jones is 28 years old and 6-foot-1 and 335 pounds, and is true nose tackle that brings run-stopping bulk and interior pressure.

He went undrafted out of Mississippi in 2020 despite 132 career collegiate tackles, 10.5 sacks, and 31 tackles for loss across 48 games with 36 starts for the Rebels.

After bouncing on and off Miami's roster as a rookie, he was waived in 2022, claimed by the Lions, and stepped immediately into a rotational role in Detroit before emerging as a primary nose tackle starter in 2023 with 15 starts at 52 percent snap share.

He returned to Miami for two seasons, starting 15 games in 2024 before his role was reduced to a 30 percent snap share in 2025, and landed on injured reserve in December.

He previously met with the Giants this month but left without a deal before Las Vegas called.

Across his career, he has accumulated 83 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 10 tackles for loss.

The Raiders have three defensive linemen entering free agency next offseason, which makes Jones more than a placeholder.

If he plays well enough in 2026, he becomes part of the longer-term interior answer for a defensive front that Leonard is building from scratch alongside first overall pick Fernando Mendoza's offensive debut.
