NFL Rumors: Cleveland Browns Predicted To Make Two Trades

Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II celebrates during 2024 game.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes the Cleveland Browns may soon look to the trade market if their season takes another downward turn.

In his recent breakdown of potential win-win deals, Knox projected two big trades involving Cleveland: moving cornerback Greg Newsome II to the Dallas Cowboys and veteran guard Joel Bitonio to the Detroit Lions.

Greg Newsome II to the Cowboys

Newsome, 25, has already drawn attention following a strong Week 1 performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. With Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland sidelined by injury, Knox sees Dallas as a natural fit.

His mock trade has the Cowboys sending a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick to Cleveland. The Browns would gain valuable draft capital while Dallas secures another starting-caliber corner to pair with Trevon Diggs.

Joel Bitonio to the Lions

The second potential Browns move involves long-time Pro Bowl guard Joel Bitonio.

Knox suggests the Detroit Lions, who struggled with interior protection in Week 1, could pursue the veteran lineman. His proposal has Detroit sending a 2026 fourth-round pick and young wideout Dominic Lovett in exchange.

Bitonio, 33, is still playing at a high level but could be expendable if Cleveland leans into a rebuild and prioritizes younger talent.
