NFL Rumors: Steelers & Saints Talking Trade For Wide Receiver

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed celebrates during 2025 game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly joined the trade market once again, this time targeting one of the NFL’s fastest rising wideouts.

According to 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi, the Steelers reached out to the New Orleans Saints during their Week 5 bye week to inquire about wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who’s in the final year of his $4.45 million contract.

Shaheed, known for his explosive deep-threat ability and return skills, has emerged as one of New Orleans’ few bright spots amid a disappointing 1-4 start.

Steelers exploring options for offensive boost

Pittsburgh, led by Aaron Rodgers, holds first place in the AFC North but continues to seek more offensive firepower. With Calvin Austin sidelined by a shoulder injury and rookie Roman Wilson struggling to make an impact, Shaheed’s big-play potential could be exactly what the team needs.

The 26-year-old has already logged 288 yards and two touchdowns this season, including an 88-yard score against the New York Giants.

This isn’t the first time Pittsburgh has called New Orleans. Earlier this year, the Steelers reportedly checked in on Chris Olave, though the Saints declined to deal their top receiver. Now, with Shaheed entering free agency in 2026 and the Saints likely to sell at the November 4 deadline, the timing could be right for both sides.

Saints weighing rebuild amid trade calls

The Saints’ front office is fielding increasing interest in several players, including Alvin Kamara and now Shaheed, as they slide toward another losing season.

Trading Shaheed would clear cap space and net future assets, while Pittsburgh could secure a low-cost, high-upside playmaker to pair with DK Metcalf.
