NFL Rumors: Eagles & Vikings Trade Talks Intensifying

Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard celebrates during 2025 game.

The Philadelphia Eagles are once again working the trade market, and this time their attention has shifted toward Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard

According to reports from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Philadelphia has reached out to Minnesota about a potential deal and has also been in contact with Greenard’s agent regarding a possible contract extension if a trade is completed.

The Eagles’ interest intensified after missing out on several top pass-rush targets in free agency.

With Trey Hendrickson signing elsewhere and other edge rush options quickly disappearing, Greenard has emerged as one of the most realistic trade candidates available.

Eagles Contact Vikings About Jonathan Greenard Trade

The Eagles have been actively searching for help on the edge, especially after losing key pass-rush depth this offseason.

At the moment, the team is relying on young defenders Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt, who combined for just 9.5 sacks in 2025. That lack of proven production has pushed general manager Howie Roseman to explore outside options.

That search has led the Eagles directly to Jonathan Greenard, who is under contract with the Vikings but has reportedly been available in trade discussions this offseason.

Russini reported that Philadelphia has remained in contact with both the Vikings and Greenard’s representation, indicating that the Eagles are serious about the possibility of bringing the veteran pass rusher to their defense.

Greenard would bring legitimate production if healthy. The 28-year-old recorded back-to-back seasons of 12+ sacks in 2023 and 2024 before injuries limited him to three sacks in 10 games during the 2025 season.

Contract Situation Could Shape Eagles-Vikings Deal

A trade would likely depend on both draft compensation and Greenard’s contract situation. The Minnesota Vikings signed him to a four-year, $76 million deal in 2024, but reports suggest he could be seeking a new contract if moved to another team.

Because of that, the Eagles have already opened conversations about a potential extension.

The Vikings still have edge rushers such as Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner, which could make Greenard expendable if the right offer arrives.

Early reports suggest the asking price could land around a Day 2 draft pick.
