Saints Wide Receiver Declares Himself Ready for Week 7

The New Orleans Saints had an injury catastrophe in their Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals when their top three wide receivers all missed the game with various ailments. It appears Week 7's game against the Arizona Cardinals won't be quite so dire. Rookie wide receiver Chris Olave said at a Tuesday presser that he had cleared concussion protocol and was certain to play on Thursday Night Football. Olave missed Week 6 due to a concussion suffered in the Saints' Week 5 28-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. His absence, along with the unavailability of wide receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry, left the Saints without their three leading receivers against the Bengals. The team netted 171 yards through the air in the narrow 30-26 loss.

September's NFL Rookie of the Month, Olave should see plenty of targets come his way on Thursday Night Football with Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry likely to remain out. Olave has totalled 389 receiving yards across his five appearances, leading all rookies this season despite a missed game.
Olave joined the Saints as their 11th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The wide receiver nabbed 175 receptions for 2702 yards at Ohio State over 38 appearances. The Saints have had good luck with the school's receivers in recent history: the team drafted Michael Thomas out of Ohio State in 2016.
