Bengals Running Back Dominates in Historic Performance

The Cincinnati Bengals crushed the Carolina Panthers 42-21 in Week 9, and no player was more responsible for the blowout than running back Joe Mixon. The Pro Bowl back compiled an amazing 153 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and five total touchdowns in a historic performance.
Mixon's five touchdowns are a franchise record for the Bengals. His 153 rushing yards are the third-most of his career, and his 211 yards from scrimmage are a personal best. He had only totalled 646 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in his eight previous starts this season.

Mixon's massive game is a welcome sight for what has been an up-and-down season for the Bengals offense. After showing promise in Week 6 and Week 7 by scoring 65 total points, they stumbled badly in Week 8, scoring 13 in a shocking defeat to the Cleveland Browns. A performance like today's will go a long way to re-establishing the team as one of the league's elite offenses.

Mixon initially joined the Bengals as their 48th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has proven a reliable, pounding runner for the team, compiling 4996 rushing yards in his first 74 appearances and even earning a Pro Bowl in 2021. He'll fondly remember this game his entire life.
