Miami Dolphins LB Chubb Injures Hand

The Miami Dolphins trade deadline splash may have an injury to manage over the final two games of the regular season. Edge rusher Bradley Chubb suffered a hand injury in yesterday's 26-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Chubb exited briefly but returned to the field with a cast. He finished the game having played 28 defensive snaps, about 42% of the total. He logged two tackles and a quarterback hit.

It appears Chubb will be able to play through the injury, but the cast could hinder him for the Dolphins' crucial closing stretch of the season. His production has been modest since joining the Dolphins in November (2.5 sacks, 13 tackles in seven games), and the hand injury will likely prevent him from hitting his stride any time soon. The Dolphins currently hold the third Wildcard spot, but they still have important games against the New England Patriots and New York Jets on the schedule.

Chubb joined the Dolphins via a blockbuster trade with the Denver Broncos earlier this season that included a 2023 first-round pick. The Dolphins promptly signed the former fifth-overall pick to a massive five-year, $110 million extension. He hasn't lived up to the hype quite yet, but an impactful performance in the coming weeks could quickly flip the script.
