Tennessee Titans Place Defensive Back on IR, Sign Replacement

The Tennesse Titans are losing one of their defensive backs for at least four weeks, but they already have a replacement lined up. The team placed cornerback Elijah Molden on injured reserve and signed defensive back John Reid to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move.

Molden has appeared in 18 games for the Titans since being drafted 100th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, starting eight of them. He has been fighting through a nagging groin injury since training camp. This is his second stint on IR of the year.

Reid arrives with the Titans from the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad. He last appeared in regular season action with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021. He totalled 12 tackles and two pass deflection ins 11 appearances with the team. He entered the league as the Houston Texans' 141st overall pick in 2020 but was traded for a conditional pick after only one season.

Molden's return to injured reserve is a disappointing result for the second-year player, especially given the prominent role he played on last year's top-seeded Titans. He was thrust into a significant role as a rookie, earning 632 defensive snaps and notching 62 tackles. Hopefully, he'll have a chance to get healthy and pick up where he left off, either in this year's playoffs or next year's regular season.
