Miami Dolphins Re-Sign Versatile Cornerback

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed cornerback Nik Needham to a one-year deal worth just under $2 million, according to sources.

Needham joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and quickly stepped into a starting role.

He has since become a versatile option for the team, playing both slot and outside corner, as well as contributing on special teams.

In his four years with the team, he has recorded 192 total tackles, six interceptions, three sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 25 passes defended in 51 games played.

Despite his reduced playing time due to upgrades in the Dolphins' secondary, Needham was expected to be a key part of their cornerback rotation in 2022 before he suffered a torn Achilles that ended his season after just six weeks.

However, Miami is confident in Needham's ability to recover and contribute once again, which is why they have brought him back on a team-friendly deal.

While it remains to be seen what kind of role Needham will play for the Dolphins in the upcoming season, his versatility and experience make him a valuable asset to the team.
