Jaguars Running Back Out For Season After Undergoing Surgery

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten runs with the ball during 2025 game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without one of their emerging rookies for a stretch.

Running back Bhayshul Tuten is set to miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a finger injury in Week 15, putting a temporary pause on what has been a quietly productive first NFL season.

Bhayshul Tuten injury forces Jaguars roster adjustment

Tuten exited Sunday’s blowout win over the New York Jets and was later confirmed to need surgery to repair the injured finger. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the expectation is that Tuten will miss a few weeks but could return in time for the playoffs.

That timeline takes him out of the regular season picture as Jacksonville pushes to lock up the AFC South.

What Bhayshul Tuten’s absence means for Jacksonville

The rookie fourth-round pick had carved out a steady role behind Travis Etienne, sharing RB2 duties with LeQuint Allen. Tuten brought a scoring punch when he touched the ball, totaling six touchdowns this season while averaging solid efficiency in limited snaps.

With Tuten sidelined, Etienne is expected to lean back into a heavier workload, while Allen steps into the clear backup role, particularly in passing situations.

While the Jaguars remain firmly in the playoff hunt, losing Tuten takes away a versatile option from the backfield rotation.

Jacksonville will now have to manage snaps carefully as they aim to stay healthy down the stretch and get Tuten back when the games matter most.
