NFL Trade Rumors: New York Jets Edge Rusher Haason Reddick Not Expected at Training Camp
Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick isn't expected to report to training camp on time, source tells @NFLonCBS. Reddick is due $14.25M in the final year of his deal after the Jets traded for him in March. Reddick is subject to $50,000-per-day fines for each absence.

The Jets acquired Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason for a conditional 2026 draft pick. The pick will be a second-rounder only if Reddick plays 67.5% of the defensive snaps AND logs 10 or more sacks. Those are lofty targets, but Reddick has achieved both for four straight seasons. If he falls short in 2024, the pick will revert to a third-rounder.
Landing Reddick was yet another massive move in a very buzzy offseason for the Jets: They had already acquired longtime Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith and former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams.
The Jets' reluctance to pay Reddick is curious, particularly because his desire for an extension was well-known in Philadelphia and likely even a motivating factor for the Eagles trading him in the first place. He's likely looking for a deal commensurate with the top pass rushers in the league, something in the neighborhood of the $28.25 million per year contract Brian Burns signed with the New York Giants earlier this offseason.
If the Jets aren't willing to fork out that type of money, they shouldn't have traded for Reddick in the first place. Still only 29 years old, he likely has at least a few more good years ahead of him, and the Jets are entering a make-or-break season. Given the status of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will turn 41 this season and is coming off an Achilles tear, the Jets have a vanishingly small window to chase Super Bowl glory. If they can't get a top-quality season out of Reddick this year, then the organization may very well have to clean house in 2025.
