NFL Trade Rumors: New Orleans Saints Expected to Name Philadelphia Eagles OC Kellen Moore Head Coach
The New Orleans Saints are adding a newly minted Super Bowl champion to their coaching staff. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints are expected to name Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore their next head coach following the Eagles' triumphant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Moore joined the Dallas Cowboys as a quarterbacks coach in 2018 under head coach Jason Garrett before quickly moving up to offensive coordinator in 2019. He retained his position after Garrett was fired and continued to call plays under Mike McCarthy until 2022. He spent one underwhelming year with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before joining the Eagles in 2024.

Moore initially made his name as the quarterback for the Boise State Broncos from 2008 to 2011, where he amassed a 50-3 record while passing for 14667 yards, 142 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. He eventually went undrafted due to his lack of a prototypical build and elite physical traits, and his NFL career as a player was brief and uneventful.
Moore's lone season with the Eagles couldn't have gone much better. His offense scored 27.2 points per game through the regular season, seventh-best in the league, and propelled 2024 free agent addition Saquon Barkley to a league-leading 2005 rushing yards over 16 starts.
The Eagles also completely dominated in the final two rounds of the playoffs due in part to Moore's suffocating, mistake-free approach on offense. In the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, the Eagles outscored their opponents an outrageous 95-45, compiled 364 rushing yards, and turned the ball over only once.
Moore should be a great addition for the Saints. It may take a year or two to rebuild the roster and find a suitable quarterback, but once a foundation is in place, Moore is a solid bet to lead consistently effective, balanced offenses for years to come. At only 35 years old, he could be with the Saints for decades if all goes well.
