Seattle Seahawks Place Running Back on Injured Reserve

The Seattle Seahawks will be without what of their veteran running backs for at least four weeks. The team announced Wednesday afternoon that running back Travis Homer had been placed on injured reserve with a rib injury.

Homer suffered the injury during the team's 27-23 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. He played three snaps combined on offense and special teams before exiting. He had carved out a substantial role for himself on offense to begin the season, even leading all running backs in snaps in Week 2. In his absence, Rashaad Penny and Kenneth Walker III will see increased snaps.

Homer joined the Seahawks as their 204th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. An explosive athlete out of the University of Miami, Homer has thrived on special teams for Seattle while contributing sporadically on offense. He has compiled 737 yards from scrimmage in his four seasons with the Seahawks. His injury is not expected to end his season. He should return following the minimum four-game absence.
