NFL Rumors: Favorite Emerging In AJ Brown Sweepstakes.
Patriots Still Monitoring A.J. Brown Trade Market
Despite bringing in Doubs on a four-year deal, league insiders say New England is still keeping tabs on the A.J. Brown trade talks with Philadelphia.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe recently noted that while negotiations between the two teams have stalled, the Patriots still view Brown as their preferred WR1 option if a deal can be reached.

Brown, 28, remains one of the NFL’s most productive receivers. Since joining Philadelphia in 2022, he has topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first four seasons with the team, earning three Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro nods, and helping the Eagles capture a Super Bowl title.
Eagles Asking Price Still Major Hurdle
The biggest obstacle continues to be Philadelphia’s asking price. Reports indicate Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been seeking a return similar to the Quinnen Williams trade package, meaning a first-round pick plus additional premium assets.
Earlier discussions reportedly included a first-round pick, a second-round pick, and potentially another player.
More recent reporting suggests the Eagles could soften that stance slightly. One potential structure discussed around the league involves a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick, which could make negotiations easier for teams hesitant to give up immediate draft capital.

Even with the Patriots adding Doubs, insiders like Adam Schefter say the move does not eliminate the possibility of a Brown trade.
Instead, it simply gives New England more flexibility while talks continue. With Brown also reportedly open to joining the Patriots, the situation remains fluid as the Eagles weigh whether moving their star receiver makes sense financially and competitively.
If Philadelphia doesn’t receive a blockbuster return, there is still a very real chance Brown remains with the Eagles.
