Washington Commanders Edge Rusher Inactive for SNF

The Washington Commanders will be without their star pass rusher for at least another week. Defensive end Chase Young is officially inactive for Sunday Night Football's crucial NFC East showdown with the New York Giants.
Young has yet to play since suffering a devastating ACL injury in Week 11 of the 2021 season. Tonight's matchup marks his 22nd straight missed game.

The timeline of Young's recovery from his ACL tear is reaching unprecedented lengths, but there shouldn't be any debate that the Commanders are right to exercise caution with their young star. At 7-5-1, they're getting by fine without him. At this point, anything he can add to this season should be considered a bonus.

Young initially joined the Commanders as their second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after a stellar three-year career at Ohio State that included 30.5 sacks and 40.5 tackles for loss. His explosive athleticism and overpowering playstyle instantly translated to the pros, earning him Defensive Rookie of the Year honours and a Pro Bowl appearance.
