Minnesota Vikings' Pro Bowl Running Back Undergoes Shoulder Surgery

Another year, another shoulder injury for Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the four-time Pro Bowler recently underwent surgery to repair a broken shoulder that has troubled him since 2019.

Cook missed multiple games in every season since being drafted in 2017 before starting all 17 in 2022. Despite his good health, he posted his fewest rushing yard per game (69.0) since 2018 and his fewest yards per attempt (4.4) in his career. That his down year was still worthy of a Pro Bowl nod in the NFC speaks to his quality as a runner.

Still only 27 years old, Cook is one of the league's most underrated stars at running back and should still have some solid years left in him, particularly if this surgery can help him overcome his consistently balky shoulder. With any luck, he'll have more Pro Bowl seasons in the future.
