Carolina Panthers Release Key Veteran Linebacker
The Carolina Panthers have released linebacker Josey Jewell, who remains in concussion protocol seven months after suffering a head injury in Week 16 of the 2024 season.
Jewell, 30, had been a key contributor in his lone year with Carolina, posting 97 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception in just 12 games. He signed a three-year deal last offseason but has not recovered enough to return to football activities.

Panthers Part Ways with Josey Jewell as Health Concerns Persist
Jewell reportedly requested the release to prioritize his health and give his teammates the full practice reps needed as training camp opens. The Panthers left the door open for a potential return if his symptoms subside. Until then, Christian Rozeboom, Trevin Wallace, and a group of young linebackers will be tasked with filling the void.
