Rice faces league discipline for his role in a March 2024 multi-car crash in Dallas that injured multiple people. He pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges (collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury) and received five years’ probation plus 30 days in jail through deferred adjudication. The case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.
Rice’s Early-Season Availability
Barring injury, Rice will suit up for:
-
Week 1: Los Angeles Chargers (São Paulo, Brazil)
-
Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles (home)
-
Week 3: New York Giants (away)
-
Week 4: Baltimore Ravens (home)
A suspension could be imposed immediately after the hearing, with expectations ranging from 4–6 games under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Background and 2025 Outlook
The 25-year-old had a standout rookie season in 2023 with 79 catches, 938 yards, and 7 TDs, helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. His 2024 campaign was cut short after tearing his LCL in Week 4, limiting him to 24 receptions for 288 yards and two scores.

Most disciplinary hearings mid-season often get pushed back till next year.
Expect Rice to play all of this season. Will get a hefty suspension next season, however. https://t.co/4YZr66Mm6Y
Rice has participated fully in training camp aside from a recent groin issue, and enters 2025 as Patrick Mahomes’ top target alongside Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and rookie Jalen Royals.
Despite his off-field situation, Rice says he’s focused on football: “All I can do is focus on what I can control right now… I’ve completely changed. Honestly, you have to learn from things like that.”
