NFL Rumors: Commanders Get Concerning News On Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels drops back to pass during 2025 game.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a left knee sprain in the loss at Green Bay, leaving his status for Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders uncertain.

Head coach Dan Quinn called Daniels day to day after an MRI showed no major damage. Multiple reports characterized the issue as a sprain and not a long-term concern, but the staff wants Daniels to hit all functional benchmarks before returning.

The play occurred early in the fourth quarter when Daniels planted near the sideline and took contact to the knee, finishing the game with visible discomfort.

Marcus Mariota Preps as Potential Starter

If Daniels cannot go, Marcus Mariota is expected to start with undrafted rookie Max Brosmer backing up. Mariota stepped in twice last season and produced efficient relief outings, giving Washington a veteran option while the staff prioritizes Daniels’ full mobility.

Washington is already absorbing other injury hits, including season enders to Austin Ekeler and Deatrich Wise Jr., plus several starters in concussion protocol. The Commanders will evaluate Daniels’ strength, cutting and change of direction during the practice week before making a call.
