Colts' Daniel Jones Suffers Concerning Injury; Insists He'll Play Through It

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones runs with the ball during 2025 game.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is battling through a fractured fibula, according to multiple reports, including NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The injury was originally listed as a calf issue when Jones appeared on the injury report following the team’s Week 11 bye, but it has since been clarified as a bone fracture in the lower leg.

Despite the severity, Jones suited up in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime loss, and he maintains that he intends to start again this Sunday versus the Houston Texans.

Jones Vows to Play Despite Pain

Jones told reporters this week that he will “be ready to go,” acknowledging that the injury had been lingering for some time. While he was listed as a limited participant in early practice sessions, reports indicate he will be upgraded to a full participant heading into Week 13.

Observers noted he didn’t look fully fluid in drills, and his rushing workload may be limited as a result. He ran only three times for 16 yards against Kansas City.

Colts’ Playoff Push Raises Urgency

At 8-3, the Indianapolis Colts hold a slim lead in the AFC South, with the Jacksonville Jaguars one game behind and the Houston Texans just two games back.

Jones is having the strongest season of his career, completing 69.1% of his passes for 2,840 yards, 17 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. His performance had sparked early NFL Comeback Player of the Year conversation.

If Jones is unable to continue at any point, the Colts may turn to backup Anthony Richardson, who has thrown only two passes this season due to injury setbacks. Rookie Riley Leonard also looms as depth support.

For now, Jones insists he’s not thinking about sitting down, only about winning. “We’ve got to keep taking care of business week after week,” he said. “I’ll be ready to go on Sunday.”
