Another Team Is Out On Free Agent Stefon Diggs
The Las Vegas Raiders have a rookie quarterback in 2026 No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, a veteran backup in Kirk Cousins, and a receiver room that lacks a true No. 1 option.
Stefon Diggs is a four-time Pro Bowler still available in free agency who caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns last season.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz even named Diggs as the one final offseason move the Raiders should make, calling it a no-brainer.
The Athletic's Sam Warren disagrees, and his reasoning has held up under scrutiny.
"I would never rule anything out, as general manager John Spytek has shown he's not timid to make moves," Warren wrote in his Raiders mailbag. "But given the team's belief in its current group and the status of the current roster, I'd say a Diggs signing remains unlikely."
Why Las Vegas Is Passing
Warren reported that the Raiders front office carries more confidence in its current receiver group than outside perception suggests, attributing the lack of proven production to opportunity rather than ability.
As it stands, Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, and Jalen Nailor are expected to be the Raiders' top three receivers.
Tucker led the team with 696 receiving yards last season and is entering the first year of his career without an established No. 1 ahead of him.

Bech was a second-round pick in 2025 who caught 20 passes for 224 yards as a rookie.
Nailor signed in free agency after four years in Minnesota and set career highs with 29 receptions and 444 yards in 2025.
Signing Diggs, who demands a high volume of targets, would compress the development of all three.
The Bigger Picture
Warren framed a Diggs addition as the type of luxury move made by teams who believe they are one piece away, rather than a team laying the groundwork like the Raiders.
Las Vegas, given its schedule and the current stage of its rebuild, is not likely to be a championship or even playoff contender in 2026, and DraftKings had the Raiders fourth among betting favorites to finish with the league's fewest wins.

Diggs turns 33 in November, and even though reuniting with Cousins and head coach Klint Kubiak, who was the Vikings' quarterbacks coach during Diggs' Minnesota tenure, holds some appeal, the timeline simply does not align.
Warren left the door open slightly, noting Spytek's willingness to make moves and the possibility that a struggling receiver corps in training camp could prompt Las Vegas to revisit the market.
But for now, the most logical read is that Diggs will not be wearing a Raiders jersey in 2026.
