Cowboys Not Done After Von Miller, New Target Emerges

The Dallas Cowboys aren't finished adding to their defense.

Roughly 30 minutes after news broke Sunday that the team had agreed to terms with Von Miller, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Dallas has also "explored cornerback help" in free agency, naming Adoree' Jackson as the player to watch.

Per Pro Football Rumors, nothing is imminent on the Jackson front, but Fowler reports the veteran corner is fielding interest "from a few teams" as roster cuts approach.

Connection Predates This Week

This isn't the first contact between the two sides.

Jackson visited Dallas back in May, and that meeting reportedly went well even though no deal came out of it at the time.

The connection is through Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker, who served as the Philadelphia Eagles' pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2024 and 2025, overlapping with Jackson's lone season in Philadelphia.

Miller and Parker previously worked on the same Denver Broncos defense back in 2021, adding a layer of familiarity to Dallas's sudden veteran additions.

Why Dallas Needs The Help

The Cowboys are looking to remake a secondary that finished as the NFL's worst unit in 2025, even after already adding cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick and safeties Jalen Johnson and P.J. Locke this offseason.

Jackson, a 2017 first-round pick who began his career with the Titans before stops with the Giants and Eagles, played 14 games with 10 starts last season, recording 55 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and an interception, though Pro Football Focus graded his overall performance at a modest 54.6.

Part of the appeal is exactly how cheap he'd be. Jackson made just $1.7 million on a one-year deal with Philadelphia last season, a modest price point that fits a team looking for an affordable, experienced veteran rather than a marquee addition.

Jackson turns 31 in September and faces internal competition in Dallas from cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., a 2025 third-round pick who's reportedly been a standout at camp, along with rookie Caleb Downs, who can also handle nickel or safety duties.
