NFL Rumors: Chiefs And Jets Almost Completed Blockbuster
Although the Miami Dolphins were the winners of the Tyreek Hill sweepstakes, another AFC East almost landed him, too. According to Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, a trade centering around the star receiver with the New York Jets almost came to fruition.
Before the Dolphins jumped into the picture, the Jets were the only team who offered the Kansas Chiefs an offer that they found acceptable. Thus, had the Dolphins decided not to send them their very own big offer, Hill likely would have become a Jet.
With the Jets desperately trying to become a playoff team again, acquiring Hill would have been a potential step in the right direction. The truth is in his stats. In 17 games with KC last season, he had nine touchdowns, 111 receptions, and 1,239 total yards. Adding a wide receiver of that ability would have been massive for New York, but that doesn't ultimately matter now. Miami was the lucky team to have gotten him instead.
It will be interesting to see if the Jets try to other big moves before the regular season is here.
